CWJF Serving the Community

Children

BookSmart, a CWJF Signature Program, enhances interest in reading for students in Title I schools.  Members perform a play based on a suitable book and each child is given a hard copy of the book.   Baxter the Bookworm is an advocacy reading program for preschoolers.  Members read to the children and provide a snack and craft. Members serve as guides  during Klein Art Days, a program exposing third graders to the liberal arts. TOMAGWA Immunization and Dental Clinics provide immunizations and dentistry at a reduced cost to low income families.  CWJF members provide non-medical assistance at these two clinics, and also at the NAM Immunization Clinic.

Seniors

Forum Friends, a CWJF Signature Program, is organized and facilitated by CWJF members to provide large groups of senior citizens an opportunity to develop and nurture friendship and fellowship several times a year.  Entertainment and lunch is provided.  There are 22 different Forum Friends events that are held at different locations in the area.  Members also provide fellowship, food and fun at NAM Fifty Plus five times a year and help residents play Bunco at Brookdale Senior Living Center and Paradise Springs Retirement Community.  Forum Outreach is an umbrella for CWJF’s one-on-one programs.  Members assist by delivering Meals on Wheels and befriend seniors through the FAST Friends programs.  Regent Care Center is a full care nursing facility located in The Woodlands.  CWJF hosts seasonal parties for the residents providing refreshments, entertainment and social interaction.

Families & Community

Interfaith Hand Me Up Shop is a thrift shop where CWJF personnel sort, price and arrange donated items. CWJF assists Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries (TEAM) Food Pantry with organizing and stocking of food supplies. Humanitarian Peanut Butter Canning Project  cans peanut butter for the Houston and Montgomery County Food Banks. Members assist on the assembly line. New Danville and REACH Unlimited provide services to adults with developmental disabilities.  CWJF members either assist in their program classes or organize crafts.  The Melodies is a group of CWJF members who perform a variety of musical programs to support the CWJF service programs.  Petticoats and Parasols, a vintage style show highlighting women’s fashion throughout the ages, promotes CWJF in the community by providing an entertaining, informative program.
